A Patch for the Soul's Hole

I love the cats, but they're not everyone's cup o tea!

For Birthdays, go with a handmade touch!
Today I needed a box. But the perfect sized box was not for the right holiday! It had Christmas kittens all over it!  And being that it is the perfect size for this gift, and because I'm not one to go to the store just for a gift box, and because I already have to mail the whole thing in a bigger package, I thought I would do a good old fashioned tape and paper over-haul! As you can see, it's much more appropriate now for a Birthday. Though it is a bit more snug now, putting the lid on, since both pieces have an extra layer of paper and tape on them. But it closes! Easy project, stunning results. People will wonder where you got your gift wrap. I used paper I already had, but you could use white or brown paper and paint or draw on it to make it personalized.

I did  finish a little sewing today and last night, but I also restored my boyfriend's vintage shirt to wearable form. (He put it on and the left shoulder drooped forward as the right arm hole swung precariously from a few threads. Yikes! He was very excited, "You mean I can wear it again!?" he said. He sounded like he genuinely missed not having it, so I did my best to sew up all the holes.   That's what keeps me happy, when the things that I sew make people smile. The gift of giving keeps on giving and that means I must keep sewing!
